#16 Bombers Post 11-6 Baseball Win Over Wesleyan

Bryan Gardner earned his first collegiate win
Claremont, Calif. – Senior Jason Friedman (Whitney Young/Chicago, Ill.) capped Ithaca’s rally from a 4-0 deficit with a seventh-inning single as the #16 Bombers snapped a three-game losing streak with an 11-6 win over Wesleyan.

Friedman’s one-out single scored junior first baseman Eric Ferguson (Columbia/East Greenbush). Ferguson had singled with junior catcher Rob Raux (Ilion/Frankfort) on first; an outfield error on the play allowed Raux to score the tying run.

A two-run home run by senior outfielder Eric Maya (Rome Free Academy/Rome) and a pinch-hit single by sophomore Todd Czerno (Columbia/Brainard) brought home three runs in the sixth after the Cardinals had taken a 6-2 lead. Raux homered in the fourth and doubled in the fifth to bring in Ithaca’s first two runs. The home run was the seventh of his career.

The Bombers tacked on four eighth-inning runs on a two-run single by junior shortstop Josh Smith (Pulaski/Pulaski) and a pair of run-scoring wild pitches.

Sophomore Bryan Gardner (Fairport/Fairport) earned his first career win with four innings of three-hit relief.

Raux and sophomore infielder Dylan Perez (Conval Regional [Conn.]/Peterborough, N.H.) each scored three runs for the Bombers, who play at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Saturday at 5 p.m.
